Melvyn Warfield, Jr.
Senior Pastor
Pastor Melvyn W. Warfield Jr. is the senior pastor of the Community Praise Church of Seventh-day Adventist in historic Alexandria, VA. Born in Columbus Ohio to Pastor M. W. Warfield, Sr. and Dr. Eunice Rock Warfield, he spent much of his life living in Georgia and California.
Pastor Warfield holds bachelors and masters degrees from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. There he served as a chaplain’s assistant and president’s ambassador. He is currently a doctoral student at United Theological Seminary where he is pursuing a DMin with an emphasis on Engaging and Growing Congregations Through Creative Pastoral Preaching and Leadership.
Pastor Warfield attributes a much of his spiritual development and ministry journey to his parents, Pastor M. W. Warfield and Dr. E. R. Warfield. He began preaching at the age of fifteen in 1994 in his father’s church and later accepted his first pastorate at the age of nineteen to serve as interim pastor of the Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Marshall, Texas.
Through his ministerial career, Pastor Warfield has served in various conferences and contexts. Since being ordained in June of 2006, he has served as the Senior Pastor of the Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nashville, TN, the Immanuel Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church in Durham, NC, and the Grand Advent Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oakland, CA. In June of 2020 he was installed as the senior pastor of the Community Praise Church of Seventh-day Adventist in Alexandria, VA.
Pastor Warfield is a sought after speaker, broadly invited to preach for churches and conferences across the country and internationally. Through his passion for learning, sharing, and living the grace of God, Pastor Warfield has labored to develop encouraging and biblical digital content for an ever changing world. He is the creator and producer of GracePoints: a weekly digital devotional series that can be seen on all social media platforms and soon to be aired on Hope Channel’s morning program “Wake Up With Hope.”
Pastor Warfield is married to the former Robin Denise Williams of Compton, California and together they are the proud parents of twins Melvyn Warren Warfield, III, and Maya Elizabeth Warfield, and their youngest Marc Kevin Warfield.
